Hobbies

A job vs a hobby

Job
“task or piece of work, especially one that is paid
“a paid position of regular employment”
“do casual or occasional work”

Hobby
an activity done regularly in one’s leisure time for pleasure

I have heard people say things like “making videos is not a job. It is a hobby.” when in reference to YouTube. Or saying things like “being a photographer is a hobby and not a real job because anyone can do it.” There are other things I could reference it too as well. Hobbies are usually something you like to do in your spare time whereas a job is something you get paid to do. Sometimes hobbies turn in to jobs like photography. You can take pictures for fun and then end up becoming a photographer and getting paid. If it pays the bills, it is a job. You can turn almost anything into a job from gardening (becoming a florist, selling produce at fresh food stores/markets, etc) to cooking (start a cooking class, start a bakery, etc) and the possibilities are endless. When you do something you love you tend to be less miserable and more productive.
